La Colombiana Excellent... Empty

by Joan J » Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:26 pm

Our 2nd visit to La Colombiana on Lyndon Lane for arepas and mojito's. Both delicious. Worried, however, that we were the only 2 diners on a Friday night. If you are craving an arepa or other delicious food, I suggest getting there while you can.

Let's give these guys some business, forumites....

I really like La Colombiana, and the people who run it are exceptionally nice ... with zero language barrier. I agree, it would be a shame if they didn't make it just because of public lack of comprehension about Colombian food.

We ate there tonight also. All of us thought our meals were excellent. We also commented on the lack of business. I hope people give La Colombiana a try soon. We have eaten there at least 5 or 6 times, and have liked everything we have had.

Agreed... although, selfishly, it's nice to know there is a restaurant nearby with good food and no wait.

I do hope their business picks up... consistently good food, great service and good prices.

Anybody been for lunch? It's close to my office but I never remember to go by during the day.

Would love to try it, but would appreciate better locators than just Lyndon Lane.....

It's about 1/4 mile north of the railroad tracks (going towards Westport road) on the left in a little plaza. The same place that Mi Patria is in, there's also a liquor store in some other shops.

We have been for lunch and for dinner. Both were excellent. the menu has been expanded for dinner with many wonderful choices. The location is where the Firefresh BBQ used to be...liquor store, Fister, Mexican grocery and restaurant also in the little shopping center. RR tracks and storage place close by.

This place has been on my "short list" for some time, and I think I will be paying them a visit very soon.

Justin, have you tried either of the lengue dishes? If so, how were they and could you describe the preparation a bit?

This place is so nice I reviewed it twice, once for LEO and once for the Voice-Tribune. Somewhere in one of those reviews is a brief mention of the lengua al horno (oven-roasted tongue), wherein I described it as thick-sliced and much like roast beef.

I have not. I'm not much of a tongue fan, but I'm sure they do a fine version.
