Thursday night specials?

by Adam Smith » Thu Apr 07, 2011 7:01 pm

The only one that comes to mind is the bottomless Brooklyn Beer and breadsticks at Papalino's, which I've taken advantage of on several occasions. I'm going to dinner with my folks around 7:30 tonight and was just wondering if there were other specials that I'm not currently privy to? TIA

Isn't there something at Limestone and maybe in the bar area at Volare?

I know Volare has half price wine bottles at the bar, but no clue about Limestone.

Sorry, I checked the Website and found a Monday night half-price deal on grilled items, and a Friday and Saturday fish steak special during Lent. Nothing on Thursday, though.

By and large, it seems to me that a lot of restaurant special events are earlier in the week, on traditional "off" nights. By Thursday, people are starting to anticipate the weekend, and there's maybe not quite as much pressure to get people in to the tables.

Keep watching, though ... I hope somebody comes up with something good before you starve. ;)

Thanks guys. Robin, I believe you're right; once it hits Wednesday the weekly specials are typically over.

BREAKING NEWS

Unless you guys know of a good place to get a steak in the South End it looks like it's been taken out of my hands. Dangit

That is unfortunate.

Mexico Veijo always has regular Thursday night specials. A pretty good list as well, too many for me to accurately recall here.

Just got back from a 27th Wedding Anniversary dinner at Limestone.

They have 1/2 price wine nights on Thursday night. Started off with a bottle of Champagne since it was our anniversary. App was the Butternut Squash Gnocchi shared between the two of us. Very tasty, but a bit too spicy for my wife so I had the majority of this dish.

Wife had the Bibb Salad and I had the Spinach Duck Confit Salad. The Spinach Duck Confit Salad has always been one of my favorite salads in town and tonight was no exception. Entrees were a Bourbon stave roasted salmon on a bed of lemon caper risotto with carrots, green beans, and a healthy portion of of red beets. Wife had the appetizer of Mini Beef Wellington which was perfectly done, is the perfect portion for her, and is a remarkable value.

Folks they are still bringing it. Lets get out and support them.

Doug
