Loved the place!!, lived 1 minute walk away for 4 years. Saw some scaffolding and lights, but did not look any further. Anybody got any 411?

Tim - there was some discussion of it on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14593

It appears to be reopening this spring.

I also "heard" the place is going to focus a lot more on food this time around. I just hope Mike Downs comes back. :D

Is the new rendition open?

Saw the newspaper was out of the windows but was driving too fast to see if it was actually open.

YES! Barrett Bar is OPEN! We were there on Friday-it looks GREAT-certainly not a "dive bar" anymore. I liked the old look and the new look! They had a champagne toast and fun free party food-felt like New Years Eve! :D

I noticed activity last night after work. (I work at Lynn's) There is new signage also, "Barrett Bar and Grill". It would be great if the BT "Juicy" was to be there, he did have a memorable laugh.

"Juicy" is now behind the bar at Bourbon's Bistro.

Stopped in the other night... looked around, didn't order a drink and left.

They've done a nice job renovating the space... it really does look nice; but it's just not the same place.
For once what was a nice dive bar that restaurant workers flocked to after work...

It feels like a suburban sports bar now.
...Which is not my scene.

I've got a lot of good memories of the (old) Barret Bar - my wife and I actually had our baby shower there one Sunday afternoon.

I will add that the pool tables are still there... and look brand new.
It'll likely still be my go-to pool hall, but not where I go for a regular nightcap.

The “new” Barret Bar basically looks the same as the “old” Barret Bar just sparkly and new. I really hope it receives the same industry support it once had, I’ve missed having the go-to spot for after work activity.
I’ll regret this tomorrow…

Ethan,

Could be wrong on this, but the pool tables are mostly new, smaller, coin operated tables. The bartender told me the two tables in the bar area are the old ones with new tops. They are tournament size. The new blue ones in the second room appear to be "bar-sized" tables and are coin operated. What got me interested is the bartender told me there's the same number of tables. Didn't know how that was possible with the additional seating in the second room. Using smaller tables could explain it. Disappointing, to a degree.

New tables and a fresh coat of paint, I was told. There's also a covering of some type over part of the patio. Didn't really think that patio needed any changes. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect.
