El Rumbon now at Toyota on Dixie?

by Robin Garr » Sun Mar 20, 2011 9:49 am

Just got this tip from an Email correspondent:

El Rumbon Cuban food trailer  is now at Toyota of Louisville, located at 6514 Dixie highway. Reinold said he would be open daily 8-4.

El Rumbon is up and running at Toyota on Dixie. His hours are more like 9:30 to 3:30, but I would advise calling Reinold at 210-9087 before venturing on a long drive. Except for dealership personnel his walkup business has been very sparse ,at best. Everyone who has tried the food has been very satisfied from what I heard, including myself.

Stopped by at lunch today - WOW! Good stuff. I had the Cuban Sandwich with rice as the side. The sandwich was enormous and wonderful. The rice was full of sliced sausage and lots of great seasonings. It was enough for two meals (although I made it fit).

If you are out this way (Dixie and Lower Hunters) please stop and try it - would love for him to be successful. Note the trailer is on the Lowers Hunters side of the lot, across from Pizza Hut and a Chinese Buffet.

Hit up El Rumbon for lunch yesterday, WOW! Maybe my favorite Cuban ever, true story...

...I think the spicy sauce that he adds puts it over the top for me, plus it was really cheesy. Good stuff.

Get out there if you can, he seems to be having a hard time. Said he'd only made $10 the past few days, but was getting a nice rush when I stopped in. Even said someone stole (he assumed the city) the $100 sign he had put up on Dixie to direct people down the block to where he was set up. :(

Really nice guy, and great food. Will definitely be back to try some of the other options.
