Advice please: pool and dinner downtown

by Jackie R. » Wed Mar 16, 2011 10:47 am

I'm trying to think of a place downtown for a group of us to shoot pool tonight and eat some food, but we don't want to go to the two most obvious places, Bank Shot Billiards (need more food choices) or Sports and Social Club (too corporate). What else is there downtown??? We'll be at the Palace for my brother's graduation so I think we want to keep it close by (also some are staying in hotels downtown). If not downtown, what would be the next best thing (obviously Diamonds, but that's a bit far). I miss the Barrett Bar :-(.

You could eat at Theatre Square and shoot pool at 3rd Street Dive.

I was lamenting the Barrett Bar just this weekend. It was like three bars in one. The bar area, the pool tables, and the new patio. All great and all different. Should have gone more. It was just becoming "our bar" when it closed.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Not downtown exactly, but not far... ZA's Pizza on Bardstown Rd has a great pool room in the back. They have a table that you can rent the balls for by the hour and a coin operated one. Nice jukebox, great beer selection, and awesome grub. Couple TV's back there to watch the NCAA Madness also.

FYI: the Barret Bar is re-opening this spring.

And for somewhat of a conformation of this, as I drove by the place the other day, all the for sale signs are gone.

If true, excellent, excellent news.
