They do! My comments on it in the Aug. 8 LEO:

" ... we split an appetizer order of blue cheese polenta ($7.25), an inch-thick block of creamy, pale-yellow, thick polenta that held its shape nicely, with just enough blue cheese whipped in to add a subtle earthy flavor. Call it Italian cheese grits, it’s topped with generous portions of thin, short lengths of grilled fresh asparagus and sautéed slivers of portobello mushroom and red onions and sauced with a discreet amount of pink, gently piquant red-pepper cream. A remarkable combination of flavors and textures, I’m really impressed with this; and though it’s billed as an app, it’s easily enough to serve as a light vegetarian main course."

LARGE shrimp and grits. And, to take home for later, some shrimp and grits.

What I ordered today at Cafe Lou Lou.

by Doogy R » Wed Mar 26, 2008 12:20 am

I dropped in around 3pm and was quickly seated at the bar per my request. Being as it was mid-afternoon; the place had a very laid back feel to it which I was quite into. The staff was hanging in the bar area and were happily joshing around with one another. JT offered me the menu and I started with the wings. In a little while 8 nice wings that could've/should've been larger showed up with an excellent blue cheese dressing. 6 drummies and 2 of the two bone pieces went well with the dressing. Some heat was present but it was way back in the throat. On to the rest.

I also requested the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wrap with Cajun chips. I am sooooo happy I saved the rest of the blue cheese dressing for the chips. But not to get ahead of myself, the wrap was HUGE. I mean it was like a foot long and about 6 inches around. If you watch any porno flix, you can imagine how big this thing was. It was full of great jerk chicken, some greens, a yogurt aioli and a nice sweet chutney to counter the piquancy of the spicy jerk flavors. I also had a side of Cajun chips, the ones for which I saved the blue cheese dressing. I thought they were fried but I was informed otherwise. Regardless, they were the perfect foil to the wrap.

Well, all said and done, I took half the honkin' wrap home with me, had a great midday meal and want to thank Cafe Lou Lou for their share of my wonderful day on this orb we call Earth.

Marsha, hopefully I'll catch you next time.

Oh, based on earlier posts, it would appear that I need to order the Shrimp and Grits, the Muffaletta and the Bloody Mary. For those who have dined there, is this a great plan?

I know it's MY plan! Don't forget some of Marsha's signature ice cream.

Went there last week and had the shrimp & grits some BBC, and the muffuletta which was HUGE. I am positive that they put crack in the shrimp and grits. I really wanted to try Marshas desserts but did not save enough room. Next time.

I love the Chicken Portabella Wrap and the Tomato-Spinach Lavash. One of my friends has ordered the Shrimp and Grits and raved on and on and on and on and on ... well, you get the picture! Save room for dessert!!!!!

What's up with the cafe lou lou website? All I get is an error.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Looks like it's got a problem, Mike. My low-tech analysis is that their Web host doesn't currently have a properly coded "home page" at the public address for the site,

Yikes! I called Clay, and they are working on it now - he already knew about it.

Derby reservations are starting to come in, and I just made the first of the spring sorbets (berries-n-champagne). Come see me, people!
