Private Dining for 20

by Madi D » Wed Aug 29, 2007 11:53 am

I am organizing a company function and need to find a restaurant in the ville that has a private or separate room that can accomodate about twenty people in early October.

In the past we've had it at Jack Frys, but this year my boss really emphasized the private room thing.

Im looking for an upscale, really nice, impress-the-pants-offa-people kinda place.

Since we are based in Frankfort, most of the people wont be native Louisvillians so a place with lotsa L'ville flair gets extra points.

I had my fingers crossed that the new Seviche Bistro would be ready in time so i could showcase my other boss, Anthony. Unfortunately that doesnt look to be the case, but in the future the Bistro will definitly be an awesome go-to place for corporate functions.

So... help me out forumites! Who is Louisville's best for private functions??

Proof on Main would be one obvious choice. They can, and often do, set aside the westernmost dining room for private functions, and the glitz and New Yorky glamor will likely impress most people.

For a different kind of impressing, with outstanding service, consider Saffron's, where the private room is an old bank vault, the Persian cuisine is excellent and the service stellar.

Park Place might be another good one to consider.

Limestone would be another excellent option.

as far as the Private room thing goes.... Volare has a NEW beautiful space built just off the side of the main entrance which is very private.

Park Place has a nice private room and of course the food is great. The room is probably just big enough for 20 if I recall.

We did an event at 610 Magnolia for about 30 guests and it was fantastic. Maybe more than what you want to do but during the week they cater to private events and you have the run of the house.

Another vote for Volare

by Jay M. » Wed Aug 29, 2007 9:22 pm

Madi,

I agree with Heather Y.'s recco above. I attended a birthday party with 15 others in the attractive, new private room at Volare. Twenty guests would be very comfortable in the space. I would suggest that you call Natalie at Volare - she was very helpful and managed all of the details of flowers, table arrangement, apps, food, drink, wine, and music. Deborah and her team were serving that night and service was flawless.

If you really want to jazz it up (literally), consider having Jerry Tolson provide the music. He and various colleagues play regularly at Volare (Thursday nights, I believe). He had a trio (keyboard, bass and alto/soprano horn) in the private room at the event I attended and it worked very nicely.

The venue, food, service, and music all were stellar and memorable - the guests had a blast.

I'm not sure how big their private room is (I know they have one that seats at least 16) but Equus would also be an excellent choice! If you read a couple of the other threads below you'll see some discussions about the owner and executive chef (Dean Corbett) and some other recent awards and comments about the service and food there!

I would ditto the recommendation for Limestone. Really nice room, Kentucky flair and of course the food is fantastic! Jim and Mike will work hard to make your group feel really special. (There is also a hotel across the street in case your group is staying overnight).

Call Troy at Equus... With ample notice, anything can happen...They should be able to help you to impress your guests with the best food and service this city has to offer.

Z's oyster bar has a great private room, and service is top notch.

Equus, park place, limestone are also great choices.

Ferd Grisanti has 3 private rooms with one that holds upto 35. this room is very nice with many windows and vaulted celing. Other room holds 25 and yet another which holds upto 60.

No charge for the room either.

Hope this helps.

When we do events at the Piazza di Felice. Melillo's is connected by a hallway---and makes a great venue for an event. You could start with a wine tasting and tour of the cellar and we could cater:)

Feel free to call me at 502.540.9975 or Jeff Tatman at 502.568.4858

PS---Robin, is it ok to reply to these like this? If not, let me know!!
