WILD ginger: Those signed for 3/30 offline pls reconfirm!

by Heather Y » Wed Mar 09, 2011 5:09 pm

Wow! That is what I can say about our lunch at Wild Ginger today.

Titan was our server, and a little after 12N the place was empty, (more for us) .
It started to fill in a little but not much more, maybe 3 tables other than ours.
The day is so horribly rainy that it must kept a lot of folks away.

I had an extremely decadent lunch today, felt like I deserved a treat and what a treat it was.
Started with a glass of well chilled 2009 Nobilo Sauv Blanc and a glass of water.

The menu is HUGE, and we had a hard time selecting.
Their was an array of sushi, appetizers, and entrees..

I always like to think outside the box, and today was as good a day as any.
On the menu I spotted Hamachi Kama (tuna cheek, neck in my house we call cheeks "flavor seals" and go for them any time we can either eating or pinching!) appetizer $9, I ordered that and they told me it would take 15 min to get! mmm mm, totally worth the wait.
Grilled, charred pectoral fin, saucy, and meaty off the "bone" highlight!!!! OMG!

Entree was Spicy Szechaun eggplant, this is my "go to" dish all the time, it's kind of like cooking eggs, beef, or scallops, if you can master the right texture and temp you have accomplished a lot.
Eggplant, green, red peppers onion, and a few szechuan peppers, and sauce, nice ratio, and cooked perfectly not soggy, but "al dente" and not bitter! Delish .
All entrees come with fried rice, Miso soup, or mmmm, house salad with Japanese dressing.
I was searching for my straw to suck up the extra dressing.

My companions enjoyed the Shrimp Teriyaki bento box, and the Home style tofu plate, both looked equally delicious, well sauced, not too much prep oil, and right temp

I would like to highly recommend wild ginger.

P.S. Lots of room for an offline!!

I'm in for an off line- I passed it the other day and the menu looked great.
Paula- it's taken over the space from the late lamented Cafe Metro.

Moi aussi ... but are they open for lunch? I'm not sure.

Oh, DUH. I just re-read Heather's original post, d'oh! Looks like they are open for lunch.

Sorry. I dropped the ball on that one too. Blinded by hunger.

Exactly!

So, somebody call out a date. It would probably be good for someone to call and confirm that they would welcome a larger lunch group and if we should put a limit on the number of revelers.

Eve, would you feel comfortable about calling to see if the management is okay with this, wants to put a ceiling on the group size, etc.?
