Congrats, Dana.

I believe that makes her the fourth or fifth editor in this publication's still-young life - I was one of them. I'll be interested to talk to Dana after she moves on and see how her experience compares.

I didn't realize the The Dessert Gallery had closed. Add that to the Sweet Tooth and we've lost two sweet shops. Every so often I get the urge to have a retail storefront. Having sat down and written two complete business plans, I've talked myself out of it twice.

Robin, Dana is a FB friend if you want to "friend" her, she is quite the little spitfire!

I think she will do well in her position at F&D.

Jeeez, where the hell have I been. This looks like a pretty cool little rag. A bit pretentious (snooty-like) in it's layout but it certainly seems to have a lot going on in terms of articles. Gonna have to go back and work the archives a bit and see what kind of interesting stuff we can find.

Young life ? Looks to me like they've been around since at least 2005...Which in I-phone years is about 103. Just curious...sort of...well not really...actually not at all...but I'll ask anyway...Why was it you sacked this outfit (or vice versa) ? I mean I knowwwwww they take ads from non-local advertisers but...???

Maybe just checking a "box" for the ol' resume on her way up Mount Food-dom ? Who knows.

Robin-
All this pent up snarkiness toward former employers and business ventures may yet gain you honorary membership into the "Byter Curmudgeon Klub" :) .

"Curmudgeon" is just a longer word for "@$$#*|e". It's not a title I strive for. Others may vary in their life goals. 8)

Yeah-yeah-yeah...We've been there a million times. Myself, given the choice, I'd rather be an @$$#*le than a dingleberry if ya catch my drift. 8)

Anyway...back to the point at hand. Why DID we give up on this rag (or vice versa). Seems like they're pretty cutting edge and/or have their thumb on the pulse of the L'ville dining scene. One would have thought it was a match made in heaven.

I needed to edit this post...

I had misread this and was under the impression that we were talking about someone else. So my post was way off my actual feelings about Food and Dining Magazine:

I have a number of friends that work or have worked here- people whom I have the utmost personal and professional respect for.

I really like the variety of monthly topics and believe John Carlos strives to bring in the best to write about each.

I also find the distribution choices to be smart, doing the greatest good for the local businesses.

I always like to pick up a copy and see what's being said.

My apolagies, folks, I'm really not sure if I want to bump this to the top and start another debate...

With every issue, I look forward to the pictures that are shot by Dan Dry. When this magazine first started, there was a very interesting piece written about Casa Grasanti and the many local chefs who evolved out of that one now defunct legendary establishent.
