Where to sit at Jeff Ruby's?

by Mark P » Sat Feb 26, 2011 2:19 pm

Taking my wife to Jeff Ruby's for our anniversary soon. A couple of people have told me they have different "rooms." Is there certain place to request a table that would make the dining experience better?

Mark, they have a number of horseshoe-shaped booths that - while designed to hold a group of 4 - make excellent (and romantic) seating for 2. Really nice for a tableside prep of something like Dover Sole.
We had our first dinner there a couple of years back, made a favourable comment about the booth(s), and - on almost all subsequent visits - have been seated in a booth - - without having to ask! They *may* keep that kind of info in their database.... Kudos to them, if they do...

Only thing to watch for - they have a band/music every night . . . the booths/tables closer to the bar tend to be loud, making it difficult to have a conversation (depending on the volume of that night's music) . . . for romantic, you may want to request more back of the house

My partner and I ate there recently for my birthday. The fresh raw oysters were incredible (as was everything else). We weren't seated in the front of the house, instead we were taken to the "Churchill Room". It was small, quiet and really very pleasant. I hate the noise in the front and was very pleased to find out about the other rooms. The noise was the primary reason that it wasn't on our regular rotation. We had a great meal in a very pleasant environment.
