Cottage Inn has good meatloaf. It's hard to find good meatloaf in this town - I've found restaurants up here have meatloaf of the gravy variety, and I prefer meatloaf of a ketchup variety.

Sweet Peas has a pretty good meatloaf. I prefer ketchup over marinara, but once I scrapped the sauce off and added some ketchup, it was pretty good. There's also a little hole in the wall place just down the street from Comeback Inn called The Dugout. I don't know if they always have meatloaf, but they had it as a plate special one day for lunch.

Yeah, man, that's what I want to know about. The hole-in-the-walls. Thanks so much, Jessica! Even if it's not for the meatloaf, we love those (no one else knows about us!) places!!

Good Meatloaf

by Heather Y » Wed Aug 29, 2007 3:31 pm

Had a chance to have lunch out with my son today, and because he is on crutches we decided to keep it close. We went to Shady lane cafe just down the street.

The specials are posted outside as well as inside, and low and behold....
"cold meatloaf sandwich" on rye with Grey poupon! It's as though someone was reading my mind!!!!! Can you guess what I had?

The meat was really good, just like my dad would make, firm enough to slice just right, and sliced thin enough to pile three slices on the bread! I wanted to kiss Bill after that sandwich! It came with a choice of side... I have had his homemade chips (yum), and the fries, and I wanted to try something different so I went for the potato salad. Delish!

I love Shady Lane, and Bill and Susie are two of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Bill if your reading, thanks for a great lunch!

Gavi's at 222 S. 7th Street (across from the Police Station) has meatloaf on Mondays. I'm not fond of meatloaf myself, so I've never tried it, but I'm pretty sure theirs has a "red" (ketshup) sauce.

I wish I was there...Sounds tasty.. I had "Beer Can Chicken" that I nurtured for a couple of hours on the smoker for dinner that night.

But all this talk about Meatloaf makes me think of this yet again....
