Home Run Burger satisfies a special "animal" craving.

by MikeG » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:02 pm

Upon glancing over the HRBurger menu I realized recently that the had the necessary toppings to make burgers and fries like I sampled venturing IN and OUT of the west coast last year. Tonight I ventured to the St Matthews location and put my theory to the test. I ordered both my veggie burger and fries with cheese, 1000 island dressing and grilled onions. I figured it wouldn't be close but would be good enough, however much to my surprise it came off pretty much just like I had sampled out west. I had the good fortune to speak to Kathy with Home Run about this (and to thank her for putting up a Joe Mauer fathead.), she asked what they could call this on the menu. I had to dwell on it and came up with a possible name on the way home, Triple Play Fries. Hopefully Kathy catches this as I promised her I'd write it up either here or on Facebook.

I've never been to an In-N-Out Burger but have checked out their website and their "Secret Menu". Maybe we'll start a Secret Menu with the Triple Play Fries - love the name and how it matches up with the three toppings: cheese, homemade 1000 Island and grilled onions. I had to try it and you are right, it's delicious! We have had guests ask for jalapenos on their Cheese Fries but you win for originality!

So glad that I was working the shift when you came in. It was great to meet you!

The lovely Rebecca and I had a craving for a REAL burger on Saturday...one involving ground beef. Since Becky had never been to HRB we drove the extra miles down to Shelbyville Road for her first visit. The burgers and toppings were top notch...the buns weren't our favorite but it's more of a personal preference thing, some folks might really like them a lot. As I recall HRB took a little heat about there French fries when they first opened...I'm happy to report that (as far as I'm concerned) any problems have been solved. Our fries were simply top notch...VERY tasty.

The only thing I can see that needs to be done is to get rid of that Derek Jeter fathead...or anything "Yankees" for that matter.

I'm still just happy they got the Mauer one.
