Romantic Dinner Suggestions

by Megan Watts » Wed Feb 23, 2011 9:56 am

This is a question from my coworker. Her boyfriend is coming for leave from his tour in Afghanistan. He wants to take her out to an upscale, romantic restaurant. He told her that money is no object, and they are open to any type of food. So where would you go? And are there any "to die for" meals that they should try?

For a combination of food and atmosphere, I think Le Relais is the most romantic in town.

Le Relais - what's more romantic than French food?

The Oakroom at the Seelbach is about real old school service but new school food. Dinner there is pretty impressive. Let them know when you are making your reservation that you are looking for a romantic setting and they will definitely accommodate :D

While I don't totally disagree with the above options, I would suggest Buck's. The room, the flowers at every table (and given to the ladies), the weekend jazz pianist, the drinks, the china (mismatched bone china), and even the food combine to a spectactular romantic experience!

I would think for this situation the Oakroom would fit the bill for perfectly! As Dan said it's got the classic charm combined with modern wonderful food. Corbett's has excellent food and service but in my opinion is just lacking the charm for an occasion like this. Le Relais is romantic because of the kind of food served but actually the restaurant itself feels crowded and not very private to me. Another advantage of the Oakroom would be the possibility of a nice suite upstairs after dinner!

While I agree with all the other suggestions, one more place to consider is Rivue. We just celebrated our anniversary there and requested a table by the window. Constantly changing, beautiful view. Food and drink was good. Candy Cart great! But the atmosphere was really nice...............

I hear the Oakroom may be the place, though I haven't tried it. I do know that Volare & Majid's both offer an opportunity to sort of just "disappear" be waited on seamlessly, and enjoy each other.
