News release:
Let the Good Times Roll for Mardi Gras at Café Lou Lous
Chef-owner Clay Wallace is happy Mardi Gras season is fast approaching after the rough winter we’ve had. In New Orleans, and hopefully here in Louisville this year, Mardi Gras is a sign spring is around the corner. On Friday, March 4, Saturday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 8, both cafes will be celebrating with genuine New Orleans food and drink. Etouffe, red beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya pasta will be featured along with hurricanes, sazeracs and Abita beer. Mardi Gras music, costumes and maybe even a second line dance will be featured.
The St. Matthews store is located at 106 Sears Avenue. Reservations are available at 893-7776. For the Highlands store, located at 2216 Dundee Road, call 459-9566.
We’re adding Roast Beef Poboys to the menu this year. For the last two years Café Lou Lous have celebrated National Poboy Preservation Days in November to a huge response from our customers. . The history of this wonderful sandwich/meal is that during a violent 1929 streetcar strike, as union workers walked off their jobs, one shop owner pledged a sandwich and coffee for the ‘poor boys’ who were on strike. Today’s sandwich hasn’t changed much at all and will be served at the Lou Lous.
Please join us to mark the beginning of the Lenten season and to enjoy good food, good cocktails and of course, good fun! Reservations suggested, St. Matthews, 893-7776 or Highlands, 459-9566. Laissez les bons temps rouler! Let the good times roll!
