Pig Lickers coming to Famous Dave's

What's a pig licker? Get ready for it ...

NEWS RELEASE

Pig Lickers coming to the metro ...

Famous Dave’s BBQ restaurants plan to help the Louisville area celebrate National Pig Day on Tuesday, March 1, in an unusual way. Throughout the week both local Famous Dave’s restaurants will give away a free Pig Licker with every entrée purchase.

Pig Lickers are a Famous Dave’s creation consisting of thick-cut bacon covered in dark chocolate, sprinkled with sea salt and chilled. Minnesotans have been enjoying this special treat at their state fair since 2008. Now local residents will have their chance to experience this treat without making the trip north.

Pig Lickers will be available in both area Famous Dave’s locations - located across from Stonybrook in Jeffersontown and on Veterans Parkway in Clarksville - Monday, Feb, 28 through Sunday, March 6.

I think it could be done. We had some great chocolate-covered bacon done by a local chef at an offline.

But I don't know that I'd want to try a chain's industrially processed version.

My boyfriend and I have hosted a BACON MACON CHRISTMAS party for the last two years-Chocolate Covered Bacon was big both years. Another big one was Bacon wrapped around a pretzel-deep fried and dipped in White Chocolate-YUM! Someone made Bacon Sushi this year-tons of delicious goodies!!! I think the name is probably the scary thing...!

I've been known to eat some chocolate covered bacon in my time and having lived in Minnesota for a number of years i've eaten the pig lickers they have at the state fair. These are not very good at all, the bacon and chocolate were both extremely bland. I bought a cone of them at the state fair and ended up eating 1 of the 8 pieces they gave me.

Hopefully they have improved since then.

Your favorite BBQ joint has something similar. It was the one good thing we ate.

“Wilber’s Sundae”
Brown butter praline ice cream with Bourbon caramel ribbon atop cinnamon pork rinds sprinkled with candied bacon topped with a Bourbon cherry
