Taste of Derby and Taste of Derby Festival

by David Sanders » Tue Feb 15, 2011 10:46 pm

There apparently will again be two Taste of Derby's this year. Both of which will benefit Dare to Care. That is not a bad thing, just surprised that the two events continue to keep basically the same name.

"24th Annual Taste of Derby Festival - Join us on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Louisville Slugger Field for the 24th Annual Taste of Derby Festival benefiting Dare to Care Food Bank. Louisville’s favorite restaurant event includes delicious samples from over 60 celebrated local restaurants, bourbon distilleries and beverage companies. Enjoy our Bloody Mary contest, silent auction and more! 100% of the net proceeds from Taste of Derby Festival support Dare to Care Food Bank’s mission to end hunger in Kentuckiana. " from Taste of Derby Festival website.

"Kick off your Kentucky Derby weekend in style at the second annual Taste of Derby, a celebration of cuisine, racing and style where you will mingle with horse racing celebrities and experience an evening of exquisite cuisine from popular horse racing destinations across the country as nationally renowned chefs from these cities serve samples of their signature dishes paired with delectable wines! Live entertainment will top off the extraordinary evening and partial proceeds will benefit hunger relief organizations. Thursday, May 5, 2011. During Taste of Derby’s introductory year, a total of $75,000 was contributed locally to Dare to Care Food Bank and globally to the World Food Programme". from Kentucky Derby.com website.

Sorry, I am not well versed at at cutting and pasting website quotes. If Robin needs to fix because of copyright issues, I understand, just trying to get the information out there.

I assume both events are very worthy events benefiting Dare to Care.

As in previous years, we plan to attend the event at Slugger Field.

Formatting is fine, David, and I really don't see copyright as an issue. Those are announcements of a press-release nature, and if they haven't already asked HotBytes to pass the word along, I'm sure they will. Thanks for the posts.

We'll be there with NABC Beer and Bank Street Brewhouse food. What a combination!

the taste of the derby festival is the event that generates the most money for dare to care. it is the one that most of the local restaurants support. brown-forman has given great corporate support to tis event for years.
the taste of the derby is modeled on the taste of the n.f.l., where "super" chefs are brought to the super bowl from n.f.l. cities to do a huge taste event. the taste of the derby brings in chefs from places where c.d. owns tracks. they also invite a few louisville chefs to participate.
yum brands is a strong supporter of dare to care and as the big sponsor of c.d.'s taste event, they wanted any money that might be raised to go to dare to care.
i believe that the taste of the derby festival is a great deal. still $75.00 for tastes from forty restaurants and scads of breweries, wineries and bourbon distilleries.
our current list of participants: bank street brewhouse, baxter station, bluegrass brewing, bristol bar and grille, centerplate catering, the comfy cow, the irish rover, jeff ruby's, pf changs, palermo viejo, proof on main, consumers choice coffee, finlandia, dumante verdenoce, kentucky bourbon distillers, maker's mark, new albanian brewing co. and woodford reserve.
tickets can be purchased by calling 966-3821. there are no day of the event sales, so plan ahead!
thanks, andrew

Hey Andrew,
Any way we can score the same spot on the outside concourse again?
