advice for the weekend

by Armond McMillen » Thu Feb 10, 2011 4:48 pm

We are two couples ages 28-35 coming down Feb. 18-20 and looking for some advice. We will be going to the Alley Theater on the 19th and will likely eat at Blind Pig in the area that evening.

We are staying at the 21C and planning on eating Friday at the Brown, but we have done the Brown a number of times (pleasantly) and looking for something new and a little less formal (feel free to read "fun cocktails")...could I ask for some ideas???

Could I also ask for some bar/club/lounge ideas for later in the evening? We enjoyed the bar at 21C last fall, but we will have a little more time to get out and enjoy Louisville.

I am looking forward to hearing from everyone on such an active board...

Majid's at Chenoweth Square might just fit your bill....Stephen Dennison (a forumite) is the Bar Manager/Mixologist and does an incredable job of melding the old with the new with flair, style and flash (sorry Stephen, couldn't resist the play for my firey drink that I adore).....plus, the lounge menu is the bomb. 8)

Plus the regular dinner menu is incredable....I can recommend the duck, Lamb, and Salmon. All are wonderful.
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

We would love to have you stop by Brownings-- we are a local Microbrewery & Restaurant-- casual & fun. Also, close to where you are staying.... :D

Yup, Theater Sq Marketplace and 732 Social for sure...don't skip the Louisville Beer Store practically next door before or after. Glad you're including the Pig.

Social is a no brainer.

I would also check out Rivue at the top of the Galt House. They have a small lounge area and probably the best view of any bar in town. Nothing crazy on the cocktail menu, but they do a fine job of all the standards.

The OP mut make it to the Highlands as well. I would recommend checking out Seviche or Jack Fry's, or Asiatique or Sapporo for Asian flair. Be sure to check out Cherokee Park and all the little shops along the way. I would also recommend a trip out to St Matthew's to explore another area, like Molly Malone's for a pub feel and drinks.

Let me fourth or fifth 732 Social :)

Also Seviche and Varanese are both wonderful.
If you dare to cross the river to the sunny side of Louisville, NABC's Bank Street is worth the trip and NABC Grantline is currently NABCieged by their own beers (I believe there are 15 or more of their beers on tap currently).
