A reminder and an update:

Folks,

Slow Food Bluegrass (http://www.slowfoodbluegrass.com) is sponsoring an Iron-Skillet Chef Competition on Friday at the Fair, along with cooking demos (and product tasting ) from several local producers and chefs.

Here's the info:

Slow Food Bluegrass Day @ The Kentucky State Fair, Friday, August 24th, Gourmet Garden, KY Fair and Exposition Center, Louisville, 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Cooking Demonstrations by Ray Lampe, a.k.a. Dr. Barbecue, Nancy Newsom Mahaffey of Col. Bill Newsoms Aged Kentucky Country Ham, Chef Mark Williams of Brown-Forman, Kathy Wheeler of Star Farm Bourbon Red Turkeys, and an Iron-Skillet Chef Competition featuring Chef Nancy Russman competing against local restaurant chefs. http://www.slowfoodbluegrass.com or 502-303-3760.

List of event times is at:
http://www.kystatefair.org/general_info/daily_schedule/07daily_schedule/Friday,_August_24.pdf

Update: Jim Gerhardt of Limestone will be chef de cuisine for the Col. Newsom's Aged Country Ham Demo.

Admission is free with Fair admission- and remember: Garden Gate is in the AIRCONDITIONED part of KICC. A really good excuse to play hookey and taste some great Kentucky foods!
