Creation Gardens

by William P » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:15 am

Hello everyone my name is Bill and I am new to posting but have been reading the forum for over a year now. I was born and raised in Louisville but now live in Indianapolis with my wife, biding our time until we make our return. We do make frequent trips back to Louisville to see family and find the forum extremely helpful. Anyway I read an article on the Courier’s site yesterday regarding the opening of a chocolate shop on East Market but it also mentioned Creation Gardens and their decision not to move forward with their initial plans of building what looked like a really neat complex. Does anybody have any more insight into what might be done with the property that they no longer need? It is quite a shame because the renderings looked great. Here is a link to the article.

Creation Gardens had to move to make way for the proposed downtown Ohio River bridge and was awarded $3.6 million when the state condemned its downtown food-distribution facility as part of that project, Creation Gardens co-owner Ron Turnier said.

Creation Gardens officials originally planned to build a new warehouse at the Market street location, but the costs of building downtown prompted Turnier to look for something that would give the company a bigger bang for its buck, said marketing manager Ralph Brewer.
