I seem to remember that Simply Thai moved, but I can't find the new address posted anywhere. Is it close to the old one?

Don't forget it was the Hat Box forever. My Mom still complains about that, lol! Boy, the place has been slammed. At least you can get a reservation on Open Table!

We decided to give Simply Thai a few weeks/months in its new home before going. We went Monday night for a friend's birthday. I hate to say it-- but the service was terrible. Not how I remember the service at the old building- quirky and slow. No, terrible. First, the place was packed so that is good for them. After sitting and waiting for what felt like forever, the server finally came over and all four of us ordered different thai/japanese beers and waters. Server comes back after what felt like forever yet again and had two of the beers we ordered and two additional beers we didn't order. They were out of 3 of the 5 foreign beers they serve including Kirin which I thought was weird. Fine. I'll drink whatever you brought because she popped the top off before we could even say nah. Ok fine again. We finally got to order food. The fried tofu and edamame dumplings were delish! I wanted a house ginger salad but decided I wasn't going to pay $6.50 for it.

After another round of beer- one more of the foreign beers suddenly not available, we get our food. But by we, I mean everyone at the table but me. Fine again. Then after five minutes, still no food. Still no server. I tried to time it, but I think after about 7 or 8 minutes my yellow curry arrived.

Final review of the food: husband said pad thai same as always. I got the yellow curry and it was ok. I usually order the khao soi (sp??) over the wheat noodles and was mad I didn't. My friend got it and it was amazing as always. Seriously, if you have never had it, go right now and get it (by take out only  )

Our other friend got the entree called green vegetable. I felt "mah" about it . The ginger sauce was good but not great. Most of the entrees have gone up two dollars but it appeared the generous serving sizes remained the same.

Bottom line- will probably only get take out from Simply Thai from now on. My major beef with service anywhere is not bringing out the entrees at or near the same time. It makes the person without food very uncomfortable because everyone else is either forced to sit and look at the food they want to eat or begin eating and feel bad about it. Also, please hire/staff more servers. Two servers for that place with every single table packed is not enough.

Another note- has anyone tried their massaman curry? I don't remember it being on the old menu.

Really weird since Kirin is not foreign, but brewed by Anheuser-Busch (AB/InBev) in Los Angeles.

Wow- you went there. I guess I should edit to say exotic beer.

Doesnt that make it a Belgian beer (although brewed in the US), so still foreign?

Yes the massaman curry was on the old menu. DD loves it. Me,not so much.

We've been twice to the new location. Still love the food, but I get the impression that the kitchen's slow, rather than a server problem.

If Kirin tastes good is it bad that it's brewed in LA?

If you have not tried ST Thai eggplant dish (I like it with chicken) and you like eggplant, it is a must try!

Moist eggplant stir fried with basil and "sweet soy sauce", thinly sliced white meat chicken in a delicious broth with Jasmine rice. Crack a licious!
