Susi's Lemon Cake with Blueberries

by Susanne Smith » Wed Feb 02, 2011 7:47 pm

Not to bring down the ire of those who hate the "other" major news media in town, but I thought I would sing the praise of my lovely brides recipe that graced the pages of the metro today. Nice picture and great recipe that is being served today, tomorrow and this weekend. This is the third time we have been featured in the paper for various recipes, but the first for Susi. It is well deserved.

Congrats! That cake looked amazing. I will have to work up the courage to try to make it someday.

Nice work guys. the picture looks great.

Another subject altogether.....
I was thinking about this the other day; I can see the line switch to lunch after breakfast on Saturdays being harder to pull off at your place than most others.
Have you considered just doing a brunch menu every Saturday instead? Have a few breakfast items and some brunchy type stuff that would satisfy your afternoon crowd and just do that. Heck, you could change the menu every week to keep it interesting, just do that limited brunch menu of about 10 -12 items and spare yourself the agony every Saturday. Just an idea....

Looks fandamtastic, Bill. I'm not fond of the newspaper's mega-corporate owners, but I certainly wouldn't begrudge you guys the publicity!

As long as one (1) of the brunch items is the best damn cheeseburger in Louisville!

Agreed. I want the burger to be an option any time you're open!

Thanks to all for the comments. I'm afraid we have backed ourselves into a corner with the breakfast/lunch switchover. We have a dedicated group that come for lunch and that is what they want. I agree with Dan about the brunch menu, and on Sundays when I do the occasional brunch it all works and runs so smoothly. We will figure it out. In the meantime, I will persevere with keeping organized and ready for the transition. Room is the major issue. Thanks again Robin and everyone for the support. Bill and Susi Smith

Congrats to you guys. My girlfriend has picked your place to go to the next time her parents are in town. That means free Shady Lane for me!

Is this currently on the menu? I'd like to pick up a slice tonight.

Sorry guys. We are out of the Lemon Cake for toady. Sold three of them in a short period of time. I made my flourless chocolate torte to appease the customers until tomorrow when the cake will be back.

Suzanne,

How "tart lemony" is it? I was going to buy a slice on Friday to try when I was in for lunch, but I was so stuffed from the great cheeseburger I couldn't even think about it. My husband loves his lemon desserts to "make your jaw hurt".

Congrats!
