Cupcake Controversy?

I didn't get a chance to listen to Mandy's show this morning, but apparently a Lexington baker who has opened a location in Middletown has run into Louisville Metro's infamous regulatory boondoggle.

Obviously I have no clue what the details are to this story since I didn't hear the interview, but I've seen plenty of postings here at HB regarding the rabid pit bull mentality of restaurant inspectors. I get the impression this guy went through a nightmare trying to get that location opened.

This all raises the question of whether the health department is going too far beyond what is necessary to promote food safety?

I do like cupcakes. I'm inclined to generate some business for him if he has a good product.

I just lost about 8 minutes of my life by listening to the replay of the show on her blog. Very few specifics offered other than he needed a permit to put a NOW OPEN sign on his building a he needed to file some other permits and building plans/fees related to his on site plumbing. The host spends much of her time ranting against BIG Gubmint.
I honestly don't know anymore about this man's issues than I did before, although I have my suspicions about his business acumen.

I didn't listen, as I had other bubblegum to chew. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see what people think. I'm in no way advertising or promoting Mandy's show or point of view.

But considering he's been operating in Lexington for a while, one would think he has some "acumen." I can't imagine Lexington's codes would be that much more lax than Louisville's???

Of course, one person's nightmare is another person's yawner.

No offense meant, Terri! I just didn't think about Mandy's recent controversies when I first saw your post, and then when I remembered the trouble she's gotten herself into, it kind of gave me a different perspective on what she says about, well, anything. But I'm really sorry if I came across as picking on you or questioning your post.

I had cupcakes from the kiosks and they were quite tasty. The champagne was my mom and I's favorite.
