Color scheme

by Brad Keeton » Fri Jan 28, 2011 12:16 pm

Is this new color scheme (lots of red, gray, and white) here to stay or just a temporary thing? I have a comment or two, but will hold my tongue if Mary is just playing around.

I was thinking it was a V-day deal.

Our gurus are trying to make the design of the forum match the design of the HotBytes review pages, feeling that, to use a technical term, it looks "lame" to have them be different.

See if the colors become more appealing after a day or two of exposure ...

That said, I hate it.

...not easy on the eyes at all, much prefer the darker scheme that we had previously.

From my perspective, it's gonna take a day or two just to GET to where they are only unappealing. Yes, they're THAT bad.

Once the shock wears off it might be OK but right now..... I can live with the gray but the red that really isn't across the top is....

I think if the grays were just a tad darker it would be easier on the (aging) eyes.

I don't hate it. It is just different. Every board I've ever belonged to had the OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING I HATE IT reaction the second any change was made. Facebook goes crazy if they tweak or change anything. Just use it for a few days and you will forget it was ever messed with at all.

I agree with Amy on this usually. In this case, however, it may have potential unintended side-effect. For me at least, the red means I can't check my Hotbytes nearly as frequently at work. The red screams " she's not reading the Wall Street Journal" on my large screen. And since I, like most office workers has a cubicle these days, it will be PC of me not to be seen setting bad example for my team....

I'm relatively young (less than 30 by a hair) and this is killing my eyes. Also, the overwhelming red is making it very difficult to distinguish between threads I've viewed and threads I've not viewed.

Sorry, Robin, but I give it two thumbs down.
