Rolled oysters at Home Run Burgers: Two thumbs up!

Mary and I stopped by Home Run Burgers in St. Matthews this afternoon, met Bob K and Kathy K S and had a nice visit, and tried a couple of their new rolled oysters. I've got to say, I predicted that replicating the Mazzoni secret family recipe would be tough, but these good folks have come very, very close. On flavor and texture, they're right on. Maybe a little flatter and not fried quite as dark, but I wouldn't ding them for either. We snarfed through two each and particularly admired the sweet, fresh oysters within the traditional crunchy exterior and steamy batter cloaking the oysters within. Two thumbs up, and a very good buy at $2.99 each. Next time I go to Home Run, I might have to get a burger AND a rolled oyster. Can you say "Surf 'n' Turf"?

Hubby came home from work the other day all excited about this - he had eaten them for lunch. I'm not a fan, but he looooves his rolled oysters. :)

Are these available at the Hurstbourne location? I work close by and would love to pick some up on the way home.

Todd, I'm not absolutely positive, but I'm pretty sure that they're currently on special at both places. If Bob or Kathy is looking on, maybe they can say for sure.

Man! Those do look good...

That picture certainly gave me a hankerin'

And with an honest-to-goodness burger.
