I gotta try this place! We stopped by it last November on a Sunday and it was closed.

In the biz, once every 5-10 years, you will run across this character...

He is the supposedly jaded one- a transplant from the discrimations of a generation ago. He preaches what he was taught, almost blindly.

The truth is this:

He'd give his last dime to the homeless.
He silently and somewhat ashamedly cries at the grief and suffering of ethnic children on late night T.V.
He may not ever remember your name- but he sure remembers your handshake.

Personally, I love this character- you just have to know how to take them.

Ricks White Light is probably the best place in Frankfort to get a bite. Cool guy and really, really good food. We have been numerous times and never been disappointed. I can understand how a lot of folks might find this guy hard to take, but for us,its a big part of the attraction. I highly recommend this spot if you ever get the chance. Its worth a special trip Id say. Next to Shady Lane, its probably the best burger Ive had in Kentucky.

And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

His list of products he buys locally includes beef, eggs, and marijuana. Wait, what? Sweet.

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

I went once and found it ok. The food was a little above average, but pricey. Everything, and I mean everything, made a trip through the microwave, which is surprising after watching this video. Rick was not working, which I'm sure took away from the experience. He seems like a kick ass guy and it's refreshing to hear someone with something to lose speaking their mind.

Rick is the real deal. Try his crawfish pie and tell me I lie.

He's not a contrived character - he's a neat guy with honest convictions, and he runs a good place. Former military, current liberal sh*tstarter. I just got done working in Frankfort for 3 years, and nothing there compared with the White Light. For sure, the food is pricier than you would expect going into a diner, because it is all locally sourced and organic. You won't find that in any other diner in Kentucky. His burger, pork BBQ, etc. are all great, not to mention his sides - greens, BBQ black beans, mac n bleu cheese, garlic potatoes... it really is a must in Frankfort.

Hey now...take it easy buddy.

And to reference Justins comment on the use of the micro..that really surprises me. Im guessing that had to do with the lack of Rick being there, but Im still surprised he would let that go on in his absence. I would suggest giving it another try when Ricks behind the counter, the experience just cant be the same without him there.
