Limestone - yummy

by Robin F. » Wed Jan 26, 2011 9:03 am

Last Friday night after a stressful shopping trip to Costco - we decided to pop in and have dinner at Limestone. We like to sit in the bar so I don't know how crowded it was in the dining room but there weren't many cars in the lot.

Anywho, Hub loves the mini-beef wellington on the app menu so he started with the burgoo and finished with the wellington. Loved it.

I started with the bibb salad which was very good, but a little skimpy for $9. Then I moved on to the winner of the night - the Sherried Chicken and Mushroom soup with a Buttermilk biscuit. Yes - in other words pot pie! It was delish. Limestone is having an entree soup special through January.

I've only had the pot pie - err - Sherried Chicken and Mushroom, but here's a list of others from their site:

I’ve been a fan of Chef Gerhardt since his first turn at The Oak Room; My visits to Limestone have been something else. I recently tried the classic bouillabaisse for $17.00 and adjusted my expectations for what would normally be a $27.00-$32.00 entrée. I was intrigued when I read about their January program of soups and stews but this one really misses the mark. The serving was lacking in ingredient quality, quantity, and flavor. I can only hope the kitchen had run short of the ingredients and had to use what they had. While advertised as: “ “Big Bowl Offerings” meant to be a meal in themselves” the serving size was terribly small but was indeed served in a big bowl. After my cocktail, salad and bouillabaisse I returned home for a sandwich which rarely happens when dinning out.

Doug - I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but happy for the heads up on the bouillabaisse. I was torn between that and the chicken. I'm guessing one reason the chicken was filling was the cream base.
