Dooley's on Breckinridge gone

by Laura SS » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:57 pm

Tried to hit Dooley's Bagels on Breckinridge today to restock my freezer, and they're completely gone -- space is gutted, phone disconnected, the works. This may be old news, but I couldn't find it in a search.

So very sad! Close to me, and decent bagels to boot. I even had my frequent flyer card all filled and was jazzed for a big discount this time ... :(

Anyone know if every Dooley's location in town is gone, or is it just this one? Better yet, any hope of reopening elsewhere?

My husband and I went on the last weekend they were open, which was several weeks ago. They had cleared out their freestanding drink/cream cheese fridge and just had a few types of bagels left. They just had one type of coffee and no cream. They said they were closing (as if it wasn't already clear).

I believe the Dooley's on Lime Kiln is still open.

I also heard that the Dooley's owners worked out an arrangement with Heitzman's, and they will be making bagels using the same Dooley's recipes. This should already be happening, but unfortunately, I don't know which Heitzman's it is... I can't remember.

Too bad; will miss their "Bronx Bomber" bagel sandwich... :(

The Heitzman's on Shelbyville Road, a little east of Hurstbourne, now has bagels. Maybe that's the one?

Wheni I first moved to IN there was a Dooleys in New Albany and the bagels we awesome. When that location closed i started driving to the Breckenridge location.

After a while the bagels just weren't that good anymore, They got smaller, and not as crispy. This was around the time that they started selling pretzels.

We just quit going there. Bummer.

Wow, that's right by my office! How did I not notice? I always liked their garlic bagels with butter (like having garlic bread for breakfast). Oh well...

I agree. The service left something to be desired as well.

Real bagel shops don't usually have great service, just great bagels!
