Restaurant Deals

by Jason G » Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:26 pm

I snagged a half off coupon for Staxx on LivingSocial.com today. I drive by it every day but now I guess i'll be giving it a try.

Also i monitor Groupon for good deals. Sometimes i check the LouisvilleOriginals site, but the popular ones sell out quick.

Finally I've started using Open table a little bit, not really locally yet but when i travel. I noticed that you can build up your points and cash them in for gift certificates, so maybe i will start using that more as well.

Does anyone else know of any good places that I haven't mentioned to find restaurant deals or build up "frequent flyer" points? Dining out is so expensive these days it always helps to find a deal, or an incentive to try some place off the radar.

If you sign up your cards on i dine, they send you both coupons, and you earn "points" at restaurants that are signed up. It doesn't cost you anything, and as a restaurant that is a member of the i dine rewards network, it has been a great thing for our guests, and in turn, us.

Also, Tryitlocal , through gli sometimes has restaurants. Halfoffdeals,,, and many of the radio & tv stations have deals thru their sites that offer gift certificates for half price.

Only caution is if buying restaurant certificates, I suggest you make sure they are creditable if the restaurant goes out of business before you use them. ( Groupon and restaurants.com do this) Unfortunately, restaurants have a high rate of closures, and with some of the deals programs, ( specifically the Radio station/Halfofflouisville) you are out your money if you can't redeem.

Have you looked at what's available for local restaurants on Restaurant.com? Once you sign up they will also send you emails with further discounts sometimes up to 80% off the coupon price.

Dining with Steve - WIN & DINE! should be back on the air starting Feb. 5th. you can go to our site now and get some discounted certs - we're clearing out the inventory, so I'm sure it's more than 50% off -

see website below...

There are good deals to be had, but you have to be careful with these though. I've noticed more and more places with a sign on the door or a notice on their website saying they are no longer taking them.
Right off the top of my head I know that FABC, Del Frisco's, Coco Loko's and the Improv no longer honor them.

I have run into that a couple of places also but restaurant.com is very good about refunding you in cases like this. I've never had a problem getting a refund if needed.

I assume Beth typo'd. Try HALFoffdeals and see if it doesn't work.

ADDED: Yep, that'll do it. I will edit Beth's post.

And WDRB has added to the certificate offerings. Starting last week, they've had one restaurant a week. Thursday mornings. Both are sold out. Porcini's last week; Majid, this week.
Go to their website and click on the 'Be Our Guest' button. Porcini's was $25 for $50 and Majid's, $50 for $100. I believe they are gift certificates too. Which to me would include alcohol.
