True Enchilas?

by Kim H » Sat Aug 18, 2007 3:00 pm

Ok, my husband and I are in a disagreement about what truly constitutes an authentic enchilada. I believe that an authentic enchilada needs to use corn tortillias. He feels that if flour tortillias are used, but it is prepared the same way, it is still an authentic enchilada. Opinions?

true traditional enchiladas are made using corn tortillas. you can call ones made with flour tortillas enchiladas, but they are not traditional nor authentic. I hope this helps settle the dispute. :D

Thanks, Joe! I don't know of any traditional Mexican restaurant that uses flour tortillias and calls it an enchilada. I appreciate the input!
