Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
I'm looking at making a Mario Kart cake for my son's fourth birthday in March. I'm thinking of using fondant to make a black track and a couple of mushroom-type characters on top of a sheet cake. I've never used fondant before and am not sure if I can buy it or if its easy enough to make. Any ideas?
i know that Michael's crafts sells containers of premade fondant. I have never used it, but it would probably be easy to use. If you have coupons from yesterday's paper you might even be able to use the 40% off coupon.
I definitely buy it, especially black and red. The intense colors can be very tricky to make at home. since you only need a little bit, using a coupon at Michael's or Jo Ann Crafts and buying an assorted pack of colors is the best bet.
We have a variety of colors at Cooking at the Cottage including black and red. Come by and check them out! We also have any tools, cake boards, etc. that you might need.
