Easy Come - Easy Go

by Bob Sokoler » Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:31 pm

Here's an idea for all of us... with several key restaurant locations opening up around town what about putting together a wish list. Are there any restaurants locally or nationally you would like to see expand in or move to Louisville? For example Roosters on the south end might be perfect for Westport Village. Nationally we've eaten at Bubba Gumps in several cities. The concept is cute (the food is ok) but it might do well here.

Thoughts?

I always thought a restaurant concept like Ed Debevic's in Chicago would do well here in Louisville. A place where servers say what they want to their guests. It's fun concept and there are enough foodies in this city that would love the abuse here and there. :D

I've enjoyed dining at "Maggiano's Little Italy" in other cities...wouldn't mind seeing one open in Louisville.

We've eaten at "Bubba Gumps"...food was good, but struck me as a variation on Red Lobster.

Maggiano's reminds me of Corner Cafe (I believe they are owned by the same company... somehow related, at least)... which was one of my favorite lunch destinations in DC. I'd love to see a Corner Cafe go into Westport Village (although they are fairly local focused).

I think my wife and I alone could keep them in business.

Chammps Americana. An upscale restaurant/sports bar with pretty darn good food. The place started as a small local chain in MN and they have slowly moved south and east. The closest one to us is in Cincy and isn't too out of the way if making a trip to Jungle Jim's, Ikea, etc. Put one in/near The Summit and I'd live there.

I'm with Steve P on Chammps Americana. If I remember correctly, the one in Indy used to do a Bloody Mary bar on Sunday. I haven't been there in a few years.

What? are we actually giving credence to chain restaurants here.

I've been trying to think of an way to describe Chammps (for the benefit of those who haven't been to one). The best thing I can come up with is that if BW3 and Champs were both Italian restaurants, BW3 would be Frazoli's and Chammps would be Brava Cucina.

Make sense ?

I think the east end needs a GOOD home cooking venue. Maybe like Cheddars but ... well... with good food. Do home made pies and cakes. Comfort food. Lots of different cooked veggies. Take the kids kind of place.
