Pizza Inn - I recall the one on Dixie HWY, spent many an afternoon sampling their buffet.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

I remember thinking how cool this "pizza pie" was!

That place had sing-a-longs if I recall correctly with a screen and a bouncing ball. Mid to late 60s.

There was Jody's Pizza on Hunsinger Lane across from the Hikes Point Post Office - later became the Heartwood Tavern. My first taste of pizza was from this place in the mid-60s (I still dream about this pizza) - the McDonalds with arches was right across the street.

I think I remember a guy playing banjo there and a round fireplace (?) but I was 4 or 5. We went almost every Friday night. When they closed, we switched to Pasquale's and their party cut pizza.

I remember eating my first pizza in Clarksville in a place called either the Back or Side Door. The decor was at the height of 70's groove mixed with playing card faces. You ordered your food by picking up the Batphone they had in the booths.
After they opened the Pizza Hut a few doors down, they closed and the location eventually became a Cliff Hagan's steakhouse through much of the rest of the 70's and early 80's. It ultimately ended up as the Clarksville outlet of Mark's Feed Store.
Also right down the block was a local burger joint known as Denny's. My Little League team was sponsored by them and we got to eat for free after we won a game!

I think Lentini's opened around 1962, Nancy.

Robin, I've seen sources noting 1961 & 1962 so that's about it. I recall a story in the C-J long ago where a local promoter who worked on a very early Rolling Stones US tour when few people knew who they were. He took Mick out to dinner and asked what he liked and he said Italian. So he took Jagger to Lentini's. They played at Memorial Auditorium October 14, 1964.

Maybe the same story about that promoter. Made me sick to read about 30 years later. He wanted to book the Beatles here, but the Fairgrounds said no. Had to get ready for the fair. And you wonder why the bridges haven't been built :D :( :D :(

Don't forget Godfather's Pizza in Hikes Point. It was located next to the Funeral Home. The pizza place later became a Convenient Store.

We miss the good food and quirkiness of the Swiss Restaurant. The owner, Chef Nick, opened a place in Madison call Bistro 200something. We visited it last summer and it was quite good. He was still doing the copper dish of sides with every entree.

Mike - do you remember Shakey's Pizza?? they had the player piano and you could put in whatever song you wanted. We spent many nights of good fun and (pretty darn good!) pizza there - I think it became Bonnie & Clydes later in life - don't know if it's still there or not.

There was pizza earlier. I think Calandrino's on Bardstown Road might have been the first. I remember my mother getting us some when I was in about the first grade ('50s, gasp) and told us it was "a new kind of food." Calandrino's and Highland Italian were on Bardstown for a few years before Lentini's came in the early '60s.

Oh, no Mary Anne. I referenced them. I wasn't kidding when I said they had the best breakfast, ever. Like many on the list substitutes for those favorite dish's are few and far between. Luckily we have new places to have favorites from, but not breakfast.

Mentioning ghosts of pizza parlors past reminded me of a small local chain called "Rayodi's" (sic?) which was in business during the early-mid 1990's...the nearest location to me was in Lyndon, and they featured a rich, homemade pizza sauce with a slightly sweet flavor that was magnifico!
