I would assume they will all be near interstates like most Cracker Barrel restaurants are. For Westport road I thought about the former On the Border location which was supposed to be redeveloped and hasn't been. However that location is much smaller than the area that would be required for a Cracker Barrel, although I would assume it will be in that area.

When we are on a long drive, we've been known to get breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Not a place I would eat locally though.

My 85 yr old mother's favorite restaurant!! I only like their breakfast, and like Mark, only when we travel. But these days that's become far & few between - who wants to wait an hour to eat when you're traveling, especially with kids? Our go-to, on-the-road chain is Steak-n-Shake.

It was a sincere question, annemarie. John and I eat there occasionally....maybe once or twice a year, on a lazy Saturday morning. We like their breakfast, better than, for instance, Denny's. They have what all successful chains have: consistency! You always know what you're going to get, if it's in Shelbyville, KY or Frankfurt, GER. Prices, reasonable. If you have to wait, at least the penny-candy-5-and-dime store is a tolerable place to wait.

I don't think I've ever had to ask for management at Cracker Barrel, but if I did, it's good to know they will "bend over backwoods". Because that sounds pretty accommodating.

Here's another example of bent over backwards: Since Cracker Barrel does not franchise, all 588 of it's cookie cutter locations are company stores, and all the largesse flows away from the locale of operation, straight to Lebanon, Tennessee. :(

One of the locations is Bardstown, which I believe is a rarity since there is no interstate going through that area. This was published in the Bardstown newspaper within the past week.

I have no beef with CB. Maybe their profits go back to Lebanon TN, but they provide jobs. The current state of the economy is such that any jobs are welcome.

That On The Border was purchased by the local Chili's franchisee.

Cracker Barrel has found a successful business model because they are offering what 95% of the American dining public wants. Lot's of cheap comfort food with old timey country kitch.
We eat there on occasion and it's solidly average food. It would be great if someone in town could take their idea and improve on it. Something like Joe Huber's would be ideal. Fried biscuits with Apple Butter....Nom Nom! :D :D :D
