New home page look

Oh WOW! I love the way the new Louisville HotBytes home page looks! Very nice and much easier to read. Looks very sharp. Nice job Mary!

Mary says "Thanks!" Carla ... there are still a few little finishing touches to be done, including a forum link high up on the front page where it's easy to see.

We'll also be making some cosmetic changes in the forum (but not in its functionality) with the goal of making the review pages and the forums consistent in style. Anybody who wants an early peek is welcome to take a look at the live forum in its new clothes:

The new look is fantastic. Robin already addressed the one issue I had, which was how to get to the forum. Once that is fixed, it will be great.

I fought and I whined and I rolled around on the floor screaming and then I tried holding my breath until I turned blue. It was quite a sight. But my wife/partner/graphics guru said we need something more classy.

Then one thing I would like to see is the link to the forum being on the top of the page...Once I've read an article there is usually a few days until a new one is up so I have to scroll (I know, boo hoo but still) passed "old news" to the bottom of the page to get to the forum link.

As noted elsewhere in the thread, that's a temporary condition while Mary puts on finishing touches. There will be a forum link at the top of the page, and maybe another surprise, too! :D

The site redesign is great! Very clean and easy on the eyes.

Is any work being done on making the forums more smartphone-friendly? I believe there's a phpBB module for that.

Besides that, can I have a pony?

No pony for you!

I would like a smartphone option, Steve, but will have to look into it. We're generally cautious about multiple mods, because they significantly increase the difficulty of upgrading the system.

Also, I'm posting this with my iPhone, and it works pretty well as is.

But yeah, I like it. No promises of ponies, but I'll check around.
