Porcini Announces Osso Bucco Night Every Thursday in Winter Months of January and February 2011

Porcini has brought back one its favorite menu entrees for Thursday evenings this winter - Osso Bucco. The dish features slow braised veal shanks, mashed potatoes, vegetables in a mirepoix sauce. The entire menu has been updated for this winter season and can be found at www.porcinilouisville.com. Porcini Restaurant at 2730 Frankfort Ave. has been offering Northern Italian cuisine for more than 18 years.

Well, he's talking about the classic base for a French braise. I did wonder, though, why he didn't reference battuto and soffritto. In fairness, this release appeared to have been done for Porcini by a public-relations assistant or service. You'd think a PR person ought to know the field, but sadly, I've seen some evidence to the contrary on occasion over the years. ;)
