These people dumped some serious money into the endeavor as well. Most of us folk don't dine within that block so it is sovereign territory. Anything that keeps FSL viable and attractive in the city's efforts to bring convention guests works with me. Something in the formula is working. For example, the national conference for international educators, NAFSA, will be in Louisville in 2013. This draws thousands of people from around the world who use this conference to network for international programs, study abroad, international students, etc. I was surprised and proud to learn this and now able to host colleagues in the near future whose ears now perk up with new respect when I talk about the attributes of Louisville. This conference is held in North America in places like Vancouver (2011), Montreal, Washington, Minneapolis, etc. So, three cheers to Mr. Merlot and a big Louisville welcome!
