Although I would prefer to see something along the lines of an upscale, let's say, Indian restaurant at that corner with some entertainment to match the food, I will admit that it at least expands the FSL nucleus to the end of the block. These people dumped some serious money into the endeavor as well. Most of us folk don't dine within that block so it is sovereign territory. Anything that keeps FSL viable and attractive in the city's efforts to bring convention guests works with me. Something in the formula is working. For example, the national conference for international educators, NAFSA, will be in Louisville in 2013. This draws thousands of people from around the world who use this conference to network for international programs, study abroad, international students, etc. I was surprised and proud to learn this and now able to host colleagues in the near future whose ears now perk up with new respect when I talk about the attributes of Louisville. This conference is held in North America in places like Vancouver (2011), Montreal, Washington, Minneapolis, etc. So, three cheers to Mr. Merlot and a big Louisville welcome!

All great news James. Thanks for sharing. Imagine what Louisville could do/be if we had some sort of mass transit so people could venture further than say... a 10 block radius without having to rent a car.

I've been keeping up with the progress of the Starks building, since I walk past it every day. It looks really nice inside Merlot's, and I'm excited to check it out.
