Seviche-Amazing

by Kris Billiter » Wed Dec 29, 2010 11:52 am

My wife and I went to Seviche last Tuesday to celebrate our anniversary. Amazing. Just an unbelievable experience. I jumped on a certificate when they were on restaurant.com earlier in the year and figured this was the perfect time to use it. Here's the rundown: We started with the calamari. Best I've had in the city. Heavy on Calamari, light on breading, friend to a perfect golden brown. What sets theirs apart is the size of pieces. These were not small rings, and the tentacle pieces took 2-3 bites to eat. Rings were thick cut and and had a slight chew to them without being at all chexy. The peppers and olives just topped it off perfectly.
I'm not a salad person but my wife is so she had the spicy Caesar and raved about it. Lots of heat for her but still very enjoyable and was a huge portion! For our main courses my wife had the angel hair pasta with artichoke hearts, asparagus, pine nuts, goat cheese, and three nice sized scallops. SHe loved it. I must confess I had never had a scallop so I was anxious to try it, and am I glad I did. It was one of the best bites i had ever eaten. Perfectly seared and tasted like the sea. Seriously delicious. I went with the special 14 oz. strip steak served with the new potato mash, a blue cheese butter, and demi-glace (sp?). Cooked to a perfect medium rare and tasted wonderful. Upon seeing it my wife laughed and asked if I was really going to eat the whole thing. Obviously the answer was yes. Great steak and the butter added just the right amount of blue cheese flavor without overpowering it.
We finished up with by sharing a tres leches cake that was very moist and tasted great, especially with all the fresh berries on top. Our server (Michael i think) was great. He was very attentive without being at all overbearing. Total bill came to $99 minus the $50 certificate. 18% tip was automatically added plus we threw in another $10 for great service and it being right before Christmas. Unbelievable meal for around $80. We've only been to Seviche twice since budget wise its a little out of range for our regular rotation, but it is worth every penny! Chef Lamas is amazingly talented and provided one of the best meals we've ever had. It was a great way to celebrate 8 years of marriage, an

Next time you go try the seviches! Particularly the beef one! It's exquisite! By far the best single item we've tried at any restaurant in town. I can't complain about anything we've had there the few times we've been and would argue they have some of the best steaks in town. I'd love to be able to go there now, but pretty much everything I'd want to eat is off limits for the next year :(

Six of us had dinner at Seviche for NYE... as always, a great meal. Oyster Shooters, pumpkin seed Caesar, and the tuna as my entrée. Met Madi in person and told her I am a daily LHB reader even though I rarely post.

Although the menu clearly stated that parties of six or more would be charged 20%... our server lost a couple bucks by doing so. After the four bottles of wine (between the six of us, not just me alone!) we would have been even more generous. :D

Cheers...
