Melted Mozz Experience

by John Lisherness » Tue Dec 28, 2010 10:36 pm

Three of us decided to try Mozz mid-week for an early meal.
I called at 5:50 asking if we had a chance in the main dining room or if we needed reservations and was told it was pretty much open and reservations were only avalable for parties of 8 or more.
We arrived at 6:25 and found the main room packed with a 1 hour wait and gladly accepted the fact that we missed the window of opportunity and went to the "Mozz Bar". With three people, we didn't want to sit in a row and opted for an empty bar table offered by the hostess.
We hung our coats on the backs of the chairs and sat down. In a few minutes another hostess came up and, with some irritation, told us we had to move because it was being set-up for a party of 6.
We moved to a less comfortable low table by the window near the band where it was more difficullt to converse and casually watched as three empty bar tables were arranged for 6 and, after sitting empty for 30 mminutes, saw them separated and filled by new patrons trickiling in.
Even though our food and service from the bartender were very good, we won't be going back. I'm a "regular' at several other fine resturants in town, but would cringe at the thought of new customers being treated poorly because I was being given "special" consideration.

I had a fantastic meal the other night. Did the $95 52oz steak, totally badass. Awesome sides, super bargain. Everyone was totally cool to us, bummer that it wasn't the same for you, I really think they have a good thing going. A fluke maybe?

My recent visit at Mozz was enhanced by really fine service, despite them being slammed on a pre-Christmas weekend. I had one of those same low tables in front of the band, but it was fine for the hour or so while we waited on a table for dinner. It's awfully loud, but I think it's worth dealing with the loudness and the seemingly always-long wait times.

There are now 2 "flukes" on the front page of this forum. I know you love the place, but maybe they really do have some issues.
