KFC issue.....

by Becky M » Wed Dec 22, 2010 8:01 pm

We ate at KFC in Sellersburg last night. And had an issue, I went to the counter to try and talk to a manager, stood there for about ten minutes i would say and did not receive a glance. We were upset at this point and left.

My husband called the store from our van, finally someone answered. He asked if it was a corporate store or a franchise, the person did not want to answer but eventually told him they were a franchise. Then he asked if there was a store manager that he could speak to. They said no, he asked again if there was a manager that oversees the manager that is currently at the store, they kept saying no. But finally gave him a number, but no name. He tried calling the number and it just kept ringing, this happened a couple of times and then it went straight to voicemail.

In this case, what would be the next step?

If possible, locate and contact a local or regional office and hopefully you will speak to someone who cares about the image a franchisee is giving the brand.

You have started off in the right direction, but now you have to work your way up the ladder until you find someone who cares.

That site is a franchise. The franchisee of that store (and many others in the area) is Alice Schlesser (sp?). Call the store and ask for her, as I believe her office is at that location.

The correct spelling is Alice J. Schleicher, and she's a long-time KFC franchisee (I worked for KFC Corp. several years ago)....try contacting her office at 812/246-3314. If you don't have any luck at that level, I would suggest contacting the franchising department at KFC Corporate (wish I had a name to give you over there, but the folks I knew are long gone).

I used to eat at that location on a semi-regular basis, and always had a good experience. Perhaps yours was an atypical incident (and I don't know the details), but sounds as though they should have addressed it on the spot.

Thanks for the information, we are going to try contacting again.

we have also always had good experiences there as well.... personally, i think everything was slacking because of a Christmas party that they were going to be having later on, they were closing early because of it. But, service should not have been impacted because of that.

The issue was..... no food in the buffet......i mean literally.... they was no chicken in the pans, no biscuits, no potatoes because they kept serving the takeout and drive thru orders from there.... it was very odd. The dining room was full of diners eating from the buffet and we were all just sitting there looking at each other.

Not. They satisfy the customer with free food but unless the manager has a history of screw ups he/she will be fine.

Sounds like a left-hand/right-hand issue...but If you run a buffet, you keep it full -- period.

My satisfaction does not come from free food. Many times i have refused free food, coupons, etc. My satisfaction comes from letting someone in management know about a situation, and knowing that they sincerely care about the situation and will try to rectify it in the future.

For instance, i will not be satisfied here until i reach someone to let them know what happened that night. We tried calling again, got nowhere, were given another number to call, still no answer. So, i am going to try to email the franchise office.

Becky, I have particular interest in your experience with this matter. I personally respond to all customer feedback we get from our stores and I am always curious how the "big boys" handle their customer feedback. The fact that you have been unable to speak to anyone after several attempts over the course of a few days is already of note.

Please keep us posted.

Ronnie, because of this board we rarely go out to eat anymore. That's not a negative. We used to go to Denny's a lot and for a "nice" meal one of the pricier chains. But since i have been on this board and see how dedicated independent restaurant owners are, i began to see the difference in quality on many levels.

Eating local is a bit pricier sometimes, and i feel if i cannot give my little bit to a local restaurant i try not to go.

The decision to eat at this KFC was not just a quick "hey, lets go eat there" type of thing.

I had been at the eye doctor with my four children and my mother. Two of my children were seen and my mom. We had been at the eye doctor for about three hours, we were all frustrated and hungry. My husband was on his way home from work, he drives two hours to work everyday so he was tired and hungry as well. This KFC is right off the interstate so we thought it would be nice to just meet up there and eat, then head home.

We are a large family on a very limited income, to us spending $45 on dinner is not taken lightly, so for it to have gone so.....yucky....is just well, disappointing.

i will keep you all posted, sent an email today so going to wait and see.

Becky, I wish you guys had a J. Gumbo's or Shiraz on the Sunny Side ... locals that can compete in price with fast food but lots better! I'll bet if we all work on it we can come up with some Southern Indiana locals that can compete, though. :)

so.... it has been more than two business days and zip. How would others handle this? let it go? Keep up till you find someone?

ggrrr.... this is one of the main reasons we stay away from these places now.

I feel the same way Robin. We just very rarely go into Louisville anymore.

New Albany has some new downtown restaurants that are supposed to be pretty good. Part of their attempt to revitalize downtown New Albany.
