Our friend Johnathan Durbin passed away last night after a long illness. I know some of you out there are also friends of John's and thought I would pass it along. no arrangements have been set just yet.

John was a regular at the Tuesday afternoon Phoenix Hill farmers market. He always made time to stop a chat for a bit. I will really miss his sense of humor.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

So sad. He's been a long-time forum member, and I regret that I had no idea that he was ill. I wish we could have reached out to him.

When the arrangements are made, could you please let us know, Lisa?

I feel so fortunate to have had the pleasure of getting to know Jonathan & his ever present 4 legged friends -- only because of Hotbytes. If you met him, you realized anything you ever thought you knew about food or wine was so little-- he was an encyclopedia of knowledge, and loved to debate how much you actually knew. He gave me a break-- mostly because Anoosh is my other half, I think-- and he dearly loved Anoosh's food. There are people in life who deal w/ so much w/ a smile-- when it must have be a challenge, JP was one of those people. I will toast him w/ a great Cab-- I believe he would appreciate the thought. Thank you for letting us know of his passing-- do you know who has Speedbump?

I would regularly run into JP when I would go out to lunch at Pesto's....we were both there the day the blue convertable tried to turn the dining room into a drive thru....he and his lunch guest had just left about 10 minutes before the event.

My thoughts, prayers and blessings to his family.

Spy out all the great places for us, JP!

According to John's wishes, there will be a wake party. The date has not been determined. Also per his wishes, he will be cremated. As far as I know, there will be no memorial service. Keep you all pposted on any further details. Many thanks for your kind words!
