Give us a try!!

by NDDuncan » Thu Dec 16, 2010 3:39 pm

How about giving us a try - the Win & Dine Show is going to start on the air on Sat. Jan. 15. Restaurants have 4 options to choose from:

1. Appear on the show every week for 10 weeks for a trade of 10- $30 certs. a week (100 total). We sell these for $15. This includes a one minute video that we produce, showcasing your restaurant! We leave your video on our website for all to see, as well as our facebook site. We let you use the video on your web/social sites as well. We contact everyone via facebook and email to let them know who will appear on the upcoming show each week.

2. For $300 and one gift certificate of any $ amount you choose, you can appear on one show as a 2-3 minute Win & Dine Restaurant. Your address, phone and website will be listed on the screen, and when people go to our site there will be a link to your restaurant next to your logo (no gift certificates involved unless you want to offer them on your site). If you commit to 3 shows, we can do it for $250/show. (This includes a one minute video that we produce, showcasing your restaurant! We leave your video on our website for all to see, as well as our facebook site. We let you use the video on your web/social sites as well. We contact everyone via facebook and email to let them know who will appear on the upcoming show - this applies to every option.)

3. Be the "Featured" Win & Dine Restaurant - For a trade of 50 - $50 certs. plus one to give away, you will be given a 6 - 7 minute slot on the show. We will interview you and/or your chef, and one of your lucky diners will be chosen for the Win & Dine part of the segment - Steve will talk to them via skype and record it for the show (pretty exciting, huh??!)

4. The last option is, of course, is any combination of the 3 above, and we will negotiate cost, etc.

All gift certificates will have Dine in only. 18% gratuity added prior to discount, not valid with any other coupons or offers, or on holidays/special events.
(We can also add Dinner only if you like)

On every Dining with Steve Show that has ever aired since 1995, Steve has always stated that our goal "is to get people to try a new restaurant or go back to one they haven’t been to in a long time, by offering certificates at a discounted price”. Believe me, we offered this marketing to restaurants long before Groupon, Half-off, or restaurant.com. It surprises me to hear people on this forum quote Groupon, using that exact line...hmmm, wonder where they heard it??!

Just let me know what you think - give me some feedback!!

What the Dining with Steve policy on refunds on certificates if the business closes before redemption? As I noted in the Groupon thread, I've been burned on this several times with other programs. Given the ( unfortunately) very high rate of restaurant closures, this is a serious consideration for your customers.

we have always either refunded your $$ or let you exchange for another certificate (in the inventory - many of our restaurants sell out in seconds immediately after the inventory is loaded!).

And to comment on the value (like I saw in another thread), we have thousands of viewers that watch our show and never buy certificates. And yes, they're also on our email list, commenting on the places we show.

And the best part of our show, compared to the others out there, is we are a DINING SHOW - we're all about dining in Kentuckiana!! People watch our show to find out about places in the area and see what they've got to offer. And now, of course, they'll also be tuning in to see who wins the certificates! Of course they have to register online to be eligible...

We don't charge an excessive amount of $$ or number of certs to be on the show - Steve loves to entertain and we still believe TV is a very powerful advertising tool, but we combine it with as strong internet presence to give customers the best value for their advertising $$ :)

Nancy, with all respect, this is a little more aggressive advertising material that most of our "regulars" in the business usually post in the forum. I'm not going to censor you, but you might consider that posting detailed advertisements in our conversational community setting might not be the most effective way for your program to make friends. :)

Danny Mac, the folks at Captain's Quarters, Volare, Meridian Cafe, Creation Gardens and quite a few others have chosen to get out their message and support the forum by becoming advertising sponsors. I don't participate on the advertising side myself because I write about this stuff, but if you're interested, I'd be glad to refer you to someone who can give you the details. It might be a more appropriate way to get your message out.

point taken, sorry for the shameless plug.

If you remove this thread it won't hurt my feelings. Well, it will, but you're the boss

I'll leave it, Nancy. As I said, I don't want to censor, especially since you're a regular here.

In turn, I hope you don't mind that I stood you up in front of the class 8) but we do have a lot of folks in the business here, and sometimes it's good to take an example to remind everyone of my basic principles:

* We support local food-and-drink businesses. If you're a regular here, we'll find a way to help you get the word out.

* If you're doing a special event, chance are I'll approve a short message announcing it. But ask me first in a PM.

* If you're doing a special event that in significant degree raises money, food, toys, etc., for non-profit, community, educational or arts organizations and the like, I'll always support that, and you don't even HAVE to ask me, although it's still a good idea to.

* If you're not a regular here and haven't earned the right and post a message that's purely spam, that's one of the few instances in which I may simply nuke a post.

That pretty much wraps it up, but if anyone else wants to add something (or even correct me), here I am. :)
