Varanese

by Robin F. » Mon Dec 13, 2010 9:03 am

Just wanted to give a shout out to Varanese for a lovely dinner Saturday night. A friend and I have dinner the 2nd Saturday of December every year in lieu of a party we used to attend. This year we chose Varanese.

I had the chicken stuffed w/mozz and wrapped with prosciutto. It was nice, but I hesitated to get the chicken (I generally only get chicken out if it's an ethnic restaurant). While good, I wouldn't get it again but it was me and not the dish. Creamy risotto, tomatoey sauce, very comforting. My friend got the pork chop and she raved about it. We split the creme brulee for dessert and it was delicious.

Kudos to our server (I can't remember his name). He was very nice and efficient. We had a bottle of the Constentino CigarZin and the sommelier came to the table to deliver the bad news that the vineyard has gone out of business so we had one of the last bottles. He said he bought as many as he could (also of their Poet) so rush over now before it's all gone.

Thanks all at Varanese for a nice holiday dinner!
