Too Bad.. It's a really nice place. They serve good food for a more than resonable price, at a not too far of the beaten path location...But having been reared in So. Indiana, I can understand why this place didn't make it..There is too much competition on Veteran's PKWY. All of a sudden another Hurstbourne has sprung up across the river.

"Non-Driving Hoosier's" don't have to cross the Kennedy to partake of the same crappy chain food that exists everywhere on this side of the Ohio. All of the usual suspects(Chedder's, Famous Dave's, Longhorn..) have set up shop.

Unfortunatly, the nice local restaurant suffers because of the apperance of another Olive Garden. Trust me, I grew up over there. In 95% of peoples eyes, they feel that this a quantum leap. Wow, they even have an IHOP.(There's not one over in Louisville yet) And Waffle and Steak is once again Waffle House. What's next? I feel more of the same, sub-standard homogenized, corporate dining options...

If anyone knows when this piece of property does get bought would you please post?

For the record, Stratto's is still open & there is no indication that it will be closing any time soon. The building is up for sale due to reasons outside the control of the owner. Myself & the GM, Trevor, are working very hard to drive the restaurant in the right direction. The Veterans & Hurstbourne Parkways of the world will always be present, it's not a matter of defeating the beast, but of competing with the beast. We have just started a new menu & wine list that are competitive with any other restaurant out there. We also will be hosting upcoming special events that will hopefully draw more of the locals that are still unaware of Stratto's being in their back yard. I look forward to the challenges that are ahead of us & hope to see all of you enjoying our restaurant in the future.

Best wishes, Tony (and Trevor)! I would challenge forumites - especially those of us who don't cross the river as often as we should - to get over to Stratto's soon! Enjoy it, vote with your wallets, and prove we mean it when we talk about supporting excellent local eateries.

I went to Stratos and was surprised at the quality of the food. It was very good. I also thought the bar area would be a great place to just hang out.

I think that's a very challenging location. Also, the restaurant is large and the non-chain, quality dining experience might be a bridge too far for the Southern Indiana market.

People are really missing the boat by not giving Stratto's a try. The food is excellent, extremely reasonable, with good service to boot. I agree with one of the early posters on this topic. The general public is too trained to look for the chains, rather than try something independant. I assure you, I would rather eat at Strattos over anyplace that has opened on Veteran's Parkway.

I have eaten lunch a few times here since opening and has always had excellent food and service. I hope whoever buys it makes it succeed. The property is a great parcel.

I've been out of town and apolgize for coming late to this thread.

One of the central oddities of Stratto's is that with the shift of Clarksville retial toward Veteran's Parkway, Stratto's almost is more a New Albany restaruant than one in Clarksville. Unfortunately, the way people think around here, it's hard to make that point.

I'm looking forward to the Sept. fest, Tony. We'll be there with beer.

We cant wait Roger, this should have a huge turnout. Trevor told me today that John from BBC said that Cumberland is going to be involved with this now. I hope somebody brings some good beers! Just screwing with you. See you soon.

It was ah,..

My son brought some kriek duty free from Belgium, (cute little girlie bottles just my size)
it was pretty tasty. I equate (in concept) the cherry beer to that of our
wine coolers, except with a lot more flavor, and character. 3.3% alcohol.
Oh yea, and some Leffe, ( that my husband and I killed before D. had a chance to get some.)
He could not bring his momma some beer from Party Mart so he went to Belgium for it, he was seventeen at the time. No questions asked.... go figure!

Some societies are more progressive than others. We live in Louisville. Guess which is which.

(Yeah, a few days in Madison Wisconsin have me buzzing and depressed tonight now that I'm back home again in Indiana)
