Chinese Take-Out?

by Todd Pharris » Tue Aug 07, 2007 12:39 pm

I would appreciate a recommendation for a place to pick up good, fast take-out Chinese food.

I live near Hike's Point, work off of Hurstbourne Lane, and hang out in St. Matthews, the Highlands, and Crescent Hill/Clifton.

Thanks.

Todd, I don't know about takeout specifically, but Oriental House (Shelbyville Road at Fairmeade, a block or two east of Hubbards Lane) is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. I prefer their authentic menu (which is available in both Chinese and English), but even their standard old-fashioned Chinese-American dishes are well-made.

The Great Wall on lower Brownsboro next to the dirty Kroger is one of my favorite 'fast-food' chinese takeout.

Got to second the recommendation for Oriental House. The food is great, the prices reasonable and the people very friendly. They do a great deal of carry out too. We drive from Crestwood all the way into St Matthews to eat there. :!:

I have always liked the Dynasty Buffet on Lime Kiln Ln, they give you a to go tin and charge by the pound.

I wish Oriental House would do something about their sign. It's an eyesore!

I used to get takeout from the place on Goss all the time - Double Dragon. I still would, but it's not on my way home anymore.

I liked it too; much better than what we have over here in Jeff and Clarksville. :(

I second DD. Great food, great prices. Also, a Chinese takeout place opened by Kroger on Bardstown Road by Bashford Manor. Not AS good as DD, but still pretty darn good, and priced comparably.

Here's a second on the Oriental House. The place has been there 40+ years
counting the 2 they were closed because of a fire.

I worked as dishwasher there when I got out HS there by launching my History in the restaurant business in the kitchen anyway.

One of Louisville's Best Kept Secrets is the fact that Asiatique serves very resonable eats in the downstairs lounge. Stop in, Have a cocktail and get some stuff to-go off of the late night menu!!!

I second that emotion. Though I don't agree that it's the dirty Kroger name. I always call the one at 2nd/3rd and Breckenridge that. The parking lot at the Bbro Rd Kroger is a travesty, though.
