Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
Just wanted to drop a note about the great meal we had on Saturday night at Rick's. My mom was in from NY and each time she visits, Mike & I try to take her somehwere she hasn't been to on a previous visit and we try to steer clear of chains when possible. As soon as we entered, I knew she would be happy. Our server, Kim, had great energy and mom found a kindred soul! We each started with a salad - my spinach and goat cheese with the warm vinaigrette dressing was perfect! Mom had the Grilled swordfish - normally she eats like a bird and barely makes it through 1/2 an entree - to say she devoured it would be an understatement. My Thai mahi mahi was divine and hubby's prime rib was so tender it almost melted in his mouth. Mom also fell in love with the yummy rosemary/honey rolls. I know Rick has had a long history with the foodies of Louisville, and I now understand what I've been hearing for years. As I was driving mom to the airport yesterday, she called my dad to gloat about the fab meal he missed and swore we'd all go back when they both visit in the fall. Mike and I won't wait that long though - pretty sure we'll head back again this weekend

Rick's is one of my all time fav places in Louisville. Went Thursday evening, after a rough day, and Tyya did everything she could to make sure that my guest and I were both tended to. Made for a wonderful evening. And the fact that they had 1/2 off bottles of wine made it that much the sweeter.
I've always really liked Rick's, though I don't read about it much on this forum. My wife and I have always liked eating at the bar, but like it even more now after the smoking ban.

3930 Chenoweth Square in St. Matthews, next door to Paul's fruit market and across the parking lot from Seafood Connection.
I reviewed it not long after its opening about two years ago ... probably been a few changes since then but I assume the overall mood is still right. Hmm ... I'm about due to go back. I like Rick's, too!
This thread inspired me so much I made sure to get a Louisville Originals gift certificate for this place--can't wait to try it!!

I hopped online this morning and nabbed 2 for Rick's myself. I'm glad to hear that others enjoy this great place. I'm just sorry it took us awhile to finally "discover" it! Another nice aspect I forgot to mention in my original post: We really liked how the use of partions and the structure of the rooms made it feel like we dining were in an intimate setting. Kudos again to Rick's - we'll be back this weekend
stopped there for lunch friday for a party of 5.
we had no complaintes and only comments were we have to come back for dinner.
they even got me a order of green chili wontons for lunch ( yum )
as the ship sink's I will be partying with the band
