Retirement Dinner--Private Room

by Charles W. » Mon Nov 15, 2010 1:13 pm

Need some advice again. My boss is retiring, and we need a good venue for 15-18 on Tuesday, Dec 7. We'd like a private room or a section of the restaurant that is conducive to conversation (the back room at Cafe Metro was good for this) and where we won't be rushed. The food needs to be excellent: if not for noise we might end up at Seviche or Jack Fry's, for example.

Thoughts?

Corbett's basement would suit your bill perfectly. It's private and you wouldn't be disturbed by others or disturb them and of course the food is excellent!

Saffron's back room might work nicely. If you want a bit more upscale Limestone has two rooms that would likely work for you.

Both ideas are excellent. Adding one more approach, if they're not looking for fancy food and want something decent but not bank-breaking, both the Bardstown Road and downtown Bristols have a lot of private rooms and a lot of experience catering private parties. I expect the other Bristols do, too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I like Saffron's, but it's near our office and we use it a lot for groups--won't work for this. The Bristol is a possibility, but I'd like a litter more upscale. Corbett's is interesting. I'll give them a call.

Anything else?

I have been to several private-dinner events at Napa River Grill, which has several rooms for such parties.

I just called Corbett's and their cellar is booked that night. Bummer.

Asiatique might have something to suit you - check out their smaller private room:

You can try Equus/Jack's. There is a nice private room in the back that will hold up to 30.
If you like Asian food then August Moon has a private room. Also you might be able to reserve the basement lounge at Asiatique that's great for an informal gathering.
Vincenzo's also offers several private rooms.

That would probably be my second choice since Corbett's is booked.

Majid's at Chenoweth Plaza should be open by then.

Unless there's a substantial redesign, though, I can't see where they would put a private room.
