The Deli

by Mark H. » Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:09 am

I just read The Bar Belle article in the July 27 issue of LEO. She mentions "The Deli" on Dundee Rd. Has anyone been there? Supposed to be $1 longnecks for happy hour...

I haven't been in for a while. They never seemed to have all the ingredients they needed on-hand. I walk by frequently on my way to Heine's. Maybe I should give them another chance...

I was there a few weeks ago. Me and my sonny and my lovely lady ate a lunch there. I had the corned beef Ruben, they said it came on Jewish rye bread, but it didn't. It was a thin crust lame-o version.
The corned beef was Boar's Head or a similar name brand, not thinly slided not really tender.
My sweetie had a veggie sandwich - that for the price was tiny.
The sonny had something else that I don't remember.
Overall the experience was pretty shallow.
Can't say I'll ever eat there again.
Price quality ratio just wasn't equivalent.
Now if the sandwiches were 3.99 or even 4.99 maybe...

Edit: they did have a pretty good beer list.

Oh, oh the Pride of Cucamonga, of, of silver apples in the sun,
Yes, it's me, I'm the Pride of Cucamonga, I can see golden forests in the sun.

My sentiments as well, regarding the food. And I concur, if it was a touch cheaper, but the place is super cute and friendly, with inarguably high rent. Beer selection seems to be a focus, so I'll probably be back!
