Went to Diamante last night for their final hours. Despite the fact that this was their last service, everything was right on. Mike, Randy and staff did it right to the very end, food-wise, atmosphere, and entertainment. The burger (done a beautiful medium-rare, btw!) was as wonderful as ever, as were the classic Diamante mussels and the smoked pulled pork sandwich. We also had their soup of the day which was a delicious and creamy lobster bisque, full of lobster and flavor. They had a salmon special that sounded amazing, and I was impressed that they still had specials on the final night, but we were there for our last bites of our favorites. The band (I’m so sorry that I can’t remember their name!) was very fun, and seemed to be giving it their all as well.
Mike is trying to ensure that the new owners will have a restaurant that meets the quality and standards of Diamante, and will not let the diners of the neighborhood down, which is most appreciated. But no one will be able to duplicate the style of this wonderful little place – it was the love from all who were a part of it that made it what it was, and the restaurant and the people will be sorely missed. I join many others in wishing Mike, Randy, and the whole gang at Diamante the best in the future. Thanks for the memories!
