GREAT dinner at Palermo Viejo!!

by Luca B » Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:20 am

I had dinner at Palermo with my family to celebrate my mothers birthday last night and it was GREAT! I have not been for dinner in a few years and I will definitely add it to the list of go to places... Unbelievable steaks (fries!) apps and great service... I know it is a favorite for lots of forum folk but I just wanted to give them some props...
Excellent Job!!!

We had a great birthday dinner there last night too!! We were the large party with the baby. They really seemed to be firing on all cylinders last night. We had a party of 10 and the service and the food were perfect! My wife summed it up perfectly with her facebook post when we got home "Oh Palermo Viejo oh how I love thee!"

Too funny Jeremy... We were the 6 top right by the door.. I have to confess, the server set the tray jack right next to our table and put the plates there and we thought they were ours and my daughter took one of your fries!! I owe you one!
Great meal, I will definitely be back soon... Cute baby by the way, yours? I remember he/she(?) dropped his sippy cup a couple times :D

Palermo is our go to date night place. We love it. I always get the tenderloin, but Jeff switches it up (his last favorite was the flank steak). I crave their garlic fries and I think the cojita (sp?) appetizer is one of the best apps in town.

Mmmmmmm I love that place!!!! Especially the fries with chimichurri sauce (don't dip them, make sure you pour it on the fries it's a totally different taste) and the fillet is awesome! :D Gosh now I won't be able to stop thinking about it ....

I have to tell you all that you are sooooo lucky to have Palermo in the neighborhood! I moved to the Dallas area a few months back and there is nothing close to real Porteno Cuisine here! I think PV is as close to Buenos Aires as one is going to get in the states. I miss it :(

I had Palermo on my last visit to town. It had been over a year since I had been. The Parillada de Bifes (ribeye, NY strip, flank, and house made chorizo served with on a bed of French fries and drizzled with chimichurri sauce) is hands down the best plate o' meat you can get, for an astounding $22. I like to get it with their sweet potato fries instead of the french fries. That chimichurri is addictive. And I always have to force some of my meat on someone else so I can save room for dessert. The crepe filled with dulce de leche and topped with homemade banana ice cream is TO DIE FOR! Service is always excellent and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and downright comfortable. Love love love this place!

Thought I would revive this thread after my recent experience. I just had my first encounter with the amazement that is palermo sweetbreads last night, wow. It was my first time eating sweetbreads in general and I admit I was skeptical, but I put it aside and I'm glad I did.

Palermo is my FAVORITE restaurant! I frequently take new people, and they all fall in love. Their steaks are amazing, as is the rack of lamb (my top 2 picks). I always get the Lomo steak, and it's always perfect.

The chorizo and chimmichuri is another favorite as well. Oh and the Clerico (white sangria)!!
