"Miss Ada's"...any info?

by Sara R » Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:08 am

A neighbor suggested I try a place called "Miss Ada's" after hearing that I work near the U of L hospital. She said it's soul/comfort food. She wasn't sure of the exact address or details but thought she remembered it being in the Red Cross building. I can't seem to find any info about it. Has anyone been?

No, but I work down in the medical school and would love to hear where this is as well. Chicken King of course is my go to for quick home cooked food downtown...

I haven't been and I don't know how helpful this will be. BUT - I used to work at UL Hospital and heard a number of people talk about how good the cheeseburgers were at the Red Cross Building. I never investigated further because I don't eat cheeseburgers.

But I think there is a lunch spot in the Red Cross building on Chestnut.

If it is in the Red Cross building, I have eaten there - and it was very good!! Totally comfort food, well prepared, and tasty!! I was there for an all day CPR/First Aid class a couple of years ago, and didn't know where to go for lunch - the woman at the front desk recommended it, and boy, was I glad she did. I wish I had a reason to be in that area at lunch time again.

I work at the Red Cross, and it's great to have Ms. Ada's in the building. Although- it's funny...normally it seems like most Red Crossers go over to the hospital, and hospital employees come to Ms. Ada's! haha.

It's open for breakfast and lunch (usually until around 2PM). It's definitely comfort food. She makes her own cakes, and I think sells them whole along with other take-home meals around the holidays.

Well now I know where to go in 2 weeks when I go with my sister for her chemo at Brown Cancer Center. I might even walk over and pick us up some breakfast to eat while she is infusing.

I visit the Red Cross Chestnut Location frequently and have eaten Ms. Ada's cooking and it’s good.
Their desserts are the best. Best yellow cake with caramel icing and pecan pie in town.
Just had a piece of cake this week.
They sell whole cakes, pies, and cobblers.
Be sure to set up an appointment to donate blood or platelets while you visit. 1800-REDCROSS or www.redcrossblood.org
